Description

Hands forced deep into pockets with head bowed and eyes down, Rain Walk‚ forces its way through cold unforgiving streets. Pianos strung with tension and aggressive guitars make way for rugged drums and strings that are as refined as they are menacing. Percussion rattles like chains and saxophones shriek with fright. Nostalgia 77 has an ear for atmosphere, that much has been documented with previous Tru Thoughts releases.

With the release of, Rain Walk‚ taken from forthcoming album‚ Songs For My Funeral‚ he has created something dark and imposing, yet strangely compelling.

The flip side, casually entitled, Thing‚ releases all the tension with a workout for the dance floor. Dusty drums beat their way free from the garage and discordant horns (from Will Quantic Holland) on a downward spiral battle with the bass and guitar. The groove on Thing typical of the Nostalgia 77 cannon, owes as much to the worlds of free jazz as it does to the influence of funk. All these elements are forged together with many more to create a sound that Nostalgia 77 can rightfully call his own; as reflective as it is energetic and as spooky as it is groovy.
