“Raving Bully” is the third single to be lifted from the self-titled 2012 album by Sleepin’ Giantz (the acclaimed collaboration between UK legends Zed Bias, Rodney P and Fallacy). With heavy new remixes from Dobie, Skitz & Wizard, Ben & Lex and Madd! Again (new project from Maddslinky aka Zed Bias, on the link-up with MC Trigga), the digital single release also brings a killer new video.
Shattering genre divides throughout UK bass music and beyond, the Sleepin’ Giantz album has been widely hailed as a masterclass, gaining major props from the likes of Benji B (BBC R1), MistaJam (1Xtra/R1), Sinden (KISS), The Heatwave (Rinse FM), Clash, Resident Advisor, Q, Fact, XLR8R, and many more.
“Raving Bully” is a classic garage tune that sees grime merchant Fallacy and godfather of British hop hop Rodney P sharing the mic duties, with vocal stabs adding to the building rhythm before this track drops into a proper dusty roller.
Since the last Sleepin’ Giantz single, “Mucky”, which was heavily featured by SBTV, these three giants of UK music have been as hectic as ever with individual and interlinking projects. Fallacy hit number 5 on BBC 1Xtra’s UKG chart lately with a new Maddslinky-produced cut featuring Vuyisawa, and he has also been unleashing his DJ skills with a couple of sets for MCs in the Mix as well as setting up a new night, The INTL, in Manchester.
Zed Bias recently joined Eddy Grant, Norman Jay and Dizzee Rascal in contributing to the new book by Lloyd Bradley, Sounds Like London. In between slaying festival crowds, including a Secret Garden Party back-to-back-to-back set with Skream and Artwork, he has also set up a new clothing line and a label (one of the first releases being a Fallacy EP), for a September launch, and has produced the new Scrufizzer single on Black Butter.
The last few months have seen Rodney P back in the music headlines with the acclaimed reissue of his London Posse material, as well as being recruited by SBTV to curate Skooled By, their massively popular new series featuring exclusive performances from some of the most legendary UK MCs around. In the live arena his recent stint with The Herbaliser saw him playing to 10,000-strong crowds; and the man like Riddimkilla has also been in the studio: set to release new single “Success” featuring the vocals of rising soul star and label-mate Harleighblu in September, he is also working on fresh new solo material for future release on Tru Thoughts.
